Under Regulation 9(4)(a) of the Non-Domestic Rating (Collection and Enforcement) Regulations 1989, commercial ratepayers may apply directly to their billing authority for overpayment refunds free of charge. Locate Rating Reference
Obtain your 7–10 digit Rating Account Reference Number from a previous municipal business rates bill or search for your company in our public ledger.
Email the Revenues Desk
Send an email to the council's dedicated Business Rates inbox (listed above) citing Regulation 9(4)(a) of SI 1989/1058 and demanding repayment of the credit balance.
Provide Corporate Bank Proof
Attach a formal letter on company headed paper signed by a Companies House director confirming corporate bank details (Sort Code and Account Number).
